How to secure your Wi-Fi network?

Wireless router just bought might have an installation CD for the seller, and the CD that walked through the creation of security on the router in a step by step guide or wizard. Probably you never have to or how to use it.Actually I can not install the CD , because I think that these programs cumbersome and the main reason is to avoid having multiple management applications that have nothing to do with my network. Therefore, my suggestion here is how to set up your router without using a custom application.STEP 1 > Open a new browser.STEP 2 > you can now enter the IP address of the router in your browser. The step here is where you can access the management system of your router. Due to the different suppliers, you need to look in the manual of the router to the IP address ( usually the 192.168.0.1 , 196.168.1.1 or 10.10.0.1 or something similar to parties ) and the default password of the router .
Please note that all brands of router management GUI (Graphical User Interface) is different, I can not show all the brands and I have a brand only here to work , so I just direct you to areas you need to set . Please take it easy and not complicated , however you may need a little time to trial and error on your part. Try to explore and find the right section to handle. It is usually quite simple.STEP 3 > Never forget this step to set a new administrator password. Always a good first step to start avoiding you forget later. The way to set this frequency is not in the Security section , you must take a look at Utilities , System Configuration or User Management area . Find and change your password immediately to any user account that is available.STEP 4 > Enable wireless security. To turn on encryption , search or equivalent wireless security labeling . Going through here will need to use WPA or WPA- PSK , this is only appropriate if the supported network devices . Otherwise, you must use 128-bit WEP ( see photo above) . For WPA or WPA- PSK , you would type the passphrase / key over to WEP you have to generate press . Note that you have to type the passphrase / key on a piece of paper or copy it into the Notepad application and transfer it to a USB drive , so that you can write / copy the password on the client computers .STEP 5 > Change the SSID. You should not make your sound SSID as " hack me " , this will probably be a default SSID , usually no SSID configured your router will have its name as " linksys " , " belkin " , " aztech " or " dlink " . Try switching to something threatening to be a threat to connect . Example like " virusgeek " , " iamvirus " , " virusspreader " or " hackingyou " . You can probably think of something better than this. Remember that need this SSID when browsing through wireless networks available from your client machine . You will find this setting in a menu called channel or SSID.

STEP 6 > Save the settings by clicking "Apply Changes " or " Save Changes " or "Save Settings" . You need to save all the changes you make to the router in order to enter into force . Probably you must reboot the router several times during this procedure is safe and secure.Congratulations ! He has covered the basics of setting up your Wi - Fi . If you wish to continue advanced to wireless security , please go ahead and I think they are more techie . If lost or paranoid , you could just turn off your SSID broadcast . ( Disable Broadcast SSID must manually enter the network name as it is not displayed in browser windows wireless network . ) Or alternatively , you can enable MAC address filtering allowing only limited access to the network with a list of clients that specifically approve .
